The director of residence life is responsible for all areas of housing and house life at Smith; they supervise the assistant directors and work closely with the area directors and student staff.

Kia Brown

Assistant Director for Residence Life Operations

The assistant director for residence life operations is responsible for housing assignments including room assignments, spring housing lottery, the first-year room assignment process, room change requests, and extended and early-arrival housing. She also works with the director in the overall leadership of the department. She is part of the residence life on-call team and supervises the Student Support Coordinator.

Crys Arellano-Fryer

Assistant Director for Residential Education

The assistant director for residential education is responsible for creating and implementing the residential curriculum, special interest housing (including affinity spaces), Ada Comstock and graduate housing, supervising two area directors and managing summer staffing. They are part of the residence life on-call team. They also work with the director in the overall leadership of the department.

Stacey Steinbach

Assistant Director for Residential Leadership

The assistant director for residential leadership is responsible for all levels of staff training and selection, supervising two area directors, and advises the House Presidents Association (HPA). She is part of the residence life on-call team. She also works with the director in the overall leadership of the department.

Student Support Coordinator

The Student Support Coordinator works closely with the Assistant Director for Operations on housing operation tasks and projects. They also create assignments and provide support for high need populations living in houses, provide support for trunk room and JMG storage, and manage student room keys.

Area Directors

Area Directors are residence life professional staff members responsible for the management of a residential neighborhood. Area Directors supervise the residence life student staff in each residential community, support students living within the neighborhood and are a general resource to house communities within the neighborhood.
